The secret of the course is in the main rule: “everything is like in life”. The course teaches you how to find a problem in a product, turn it into a design problem, quickly conduct research and find an idea, test the solution, and prove to the team and management that the proposal is correct.
We will learn to use available data to learn about our users and analyze competitors. We will find signals in human behavior that directly affect metrics. We will learn how to identify product growth points and key factors of its economic success. Afterwards, we will join a closed alumni chat.
Course program
Introduction
We will understand the multidisciplinary nature of product design. We will consider various aspects of a product designer’s career, a competency map, and the necessary hard and soft skills.
Brief
We will understand how to effectively brief stakeholders. We will create a universal brief with high-quality open-ended questions to get the information we need about customers, competitors, the company, and its niche.
Research methods
We will learn how to build a tactical research plan based on the task. We will learn how to structure the user data that the company already has, as well as consider quantitative and qualitative research methods and learn how to choose the relevant ones.
Sampling and user experience
We will determine who to research, what to ask them, and what to do with the information we receive. We will find and select respondents for the study, consider their decision-making model, and identify 4 forces that influence habit change.
In-depth interviews, their analysis and value
We will learn how to formulate clear interview objectives and create a script based on them. We will learn how to conduct and transcribe interviews effectively. We will understand how to extract insights and how to realize that there are none in a particular interview.
How to manage conflicts
We’ll look at conflicts from a different perspective to use them to your advantage. We’ll find out what effective feedback looks like and what will motivate you to develop.
Idea generation, prioritization, and presentation
We will focus on effective work with ideas. We will learn different techniques for generating ideas. We will learn how to get rid of subjectivity, prejudice, and prioritize. We will understand what an effective presentation of ideas should look like and how to conduct it.
UX Copy
We will get the basis for working in UX Writing. We’ll understand the role of texts in interfaces, the principles of working with them, and how effective copy helps the user and the business.
Product hypotheses, hypothesis validation
We’ll map the user experience and come up with hypotheses on how to improve it. We will practice facilitating the process of working with a team. We will create a roadmap for launching changes, prioritizing tasks. We’ll eliminate unnecessary “features” and focus on the things that are really important to the user.
Usability testing
We will make a prototype for a pilot launch. We will conduct controlled usability testing on real users. Presentation of the first case, beginning of the second.
Product architecture, OOUX
We understand how our product works from a technical point of view. What technical requirements to set, how to work with data and algorithms at the fundamental level. We will also focus on the OOUX methodology to create a design that developers will feel comfortable working with.
Documentation
We will understand what kind of documentation is available and why it is needed. We will prepare our solutions in the form of self-documented design tasks for front and back developers. We will learn how to manage product processes.
Design system
We will understand what design systems are, what they are, what they consist of, and how to implement them. Let’s consider a design system as a product.
Business process diagram
We will describe the algorithms of business processes in the product and the logic of the interface. We will learn how to accurately predict the amount of work for a designer, and get rid of the situation with “rework”.
Product metrics, heart framework, signals
We will learn the main product metrics. We will find signals in human behavior that directly affect these metrics. We will learn how to measure changes in user experience.
Job search and interviews
We will learn how to create effective portfolios and CVs, how to prepare for an interview, and how to behave during and after it.
Business models
We’ll look at the most popular models and how each of them works, what makes it profitable, and what its ideal scenario is. We will also focus on product design in a growth team.
